Overview:

As a Junior Accountant you will learn foundational skills, support senior team members, and gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions.

Core Competencies:

  • Technical Accounting Knowledge: Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and information, and reporting requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work with numbers accurately and efficiently. Organization and Time Management: Managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
    in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication with colleagues and clients.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, CaseWare, TaxPrep, etc.).

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree enrolment in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA Enrollment: You should begin the process of enrolling in the CPA program and take the necessary prerequisites if you haven’t already.
  • Experience: No prior experience is required. The position is typically suited to new hires or those with less than 2 years of experience in an accounting role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, information and tax returns.
  • Support senior accountants with assurance and compilation engagements.
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Prepare working papers and supporting documentation.
  • Perform reconciliations for clients’ accounts.
